Judges

The judging panel for the African Banker Awards consists of renowned individuals chosen for their expertise on the African banking industry. They are fully independent and therefore provide the programme with its rigour and robustness. The judges receive no personal or financial benefit from their participation and play their role purely to contribute towards acknowledging the highfliers in the African banking industry.

 

Aissa Hidoussi
CEO, Best Lease, Tunis

Aissa Hidoussi

Aissa Hidoussi is one of Tunisia’s leading bankers. Prior to his appointment as CEO of Best Lease, Mr. Hidoussi was Vice president and Managing Director of Best Bank (Banque de Financement Tuniso-Saoudienne).

Aissa Hidoussi has held senior executive and MD positions at a number of top international banks including Union Internationale de Banques (Crédit Lyonnais Tunisie), Banque de Coopération du Maghreb Arabe (B.C.M.A.), Banque de Tunisie et des Emirats d’Investissement (B.T.E.I.) , Banque Nationale de Développement Agricole (BNDA).and Banque de l'Habitat.

He was also assigned the role of State secretary in charge of privatisations and public enterprises. Earlier in his career, Mr Hidoussi worked for both the IMF and the Food Agricultural Organisation.
Mr Hidoussi graduated from the  Institut des Hautes Etudes Commerciales de Tunis (IHEC), majoring top of his class and is an MBA graduate from the Institut Supérieur de Gestion de Tunis.



Koosum Kalyan
Chairman of EdgoMerap Pty Ltd (London)

Koosum Kalyan

Koosum Kalyan is one of Africa’s most admired and successful businesswomen. She joined Shell South Africa in 1990 and held various positions within the company. Until recently she was Senior Business Development Manager Africa Exploration Oil and Gas at Shell International London.

Now Koosum has been appointed Director of Hayleys Energy Services (Sri Lanka) and Euromax Capital (London/ India). She was Adviser to the Department of Public Enterprises/South Africa on restructuring of State Owned Enterprises and Infrastructure Development in Africa. Koosum has advised several African governments on planning processes and had been appointed adviser to Prime Minister Blair’s Commission for Africa.

She is a member of the board of South African Airways, MTN Group Ltd, Standard Bank Group, South African Bank Note Company, South African Mint Company, UK/SA Business Initiative London, Kgonsti Holdings Pty Ltd., Mcdonald Steel and the Talberg Foundation, Sweden. Ms. Kalyan has a BComm (Law) (Hons Economics) and completed the Senior Executive Management Program at the London Business School and the Shell Leadership Management Program.



Nkosana Moyo
Vice President & Chief Operating Officer,
African Development Bank

Nkosana Moyo

Before joining the AFDB, Dr. Moyo spent over five years at Actis Capital LLP were he was a partner and also became the Chairman of the Actis Africa Advisory Board. He has served on the boards of companies in the cement, sugar, finance, tourism and food sectors. He is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Investment Climate Facility (ICF).

Nkosana Moyo has a PhD in physics from Imperial College and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management. An Eisenhower fellow, Nkosana is a Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on the future of Africa.




Christopher Hartland-Peel
Head of Africa Equity Research, Exotix

Christopher Hartland-Peel

Christopher Hartland-Peel joined Exotix in November 2006 as Africa equity researcher. He has specialised in African stock markets and corporates since 1990 and in 1996 authored “African Equities” published by Euromoney. On joining Exotix, Christopher Hartland-Peel brought his extensive research data base on African stock markets and companies which enables in-depth fundamental research to be carried out together with historical data on exchange rates, inflation, interest rates and stock market indices.

Christopher Hartland-Peel qualifies as a chartered accountant during the 1970’s and has worked with IFC, USAID and Standard Bank of South Africa. Christopher has worked on many African IPO’s and was also instrumental in developing the Kenyan commercial paper market during the 1990’s.


Alain Le Noir
CEO, FINANCES SANS FRONTIERES

Lionel Zinsou

Alain Le Noir, a French national, graduated in banking in finance. After working for thirteen years in a French bank he joined the Training Centre of the Banking Industry in France before relocating to Africa. In his capacity as General Delegate, he directed for twenty years all the training courses in twenty five countries of the African Continent and Indian Ocean.

Since 1997, he has been Director General of "FINANCE SANS FRONTIERES", a vocational training and banking consultancy that he founded in Togo.

He also is the founder of the International Confederation of Graduates of the Technical Institute of Banking of which he was Managing Director until 2000. For twenty years he was the Executive Secretary of the Club of the Directors of Banks and Credit Institutions in Africa which he founded in 1989. He currently is the Special Advisor to the President of the Club.
